North Carolina woman charged with sexually assaulting cable repairman
A 47-year old North Carolina woman has been arrested by police charged with two counts of second-degree forced sex offense and one count of misdemeanor sexual battery after an incident involving a cable repairman.
According to the arrest warrant, Fayetteville woman Mildred Newsome forced a male television technician to engage in sexual activity with her when he attended her property on a service call last month. The Fayetteville Observer reports that the arrest warrant claims: “the man was waiting on a piece of equipment and sitting in a chair when Newsome took his hand and put it on her breast… She then forced the man to engage in two sex acts.”
The cable repairmen reported the incident to his employer immediately after he was able to leave the property. The victim told investigators that Newsome warned “if he reported the alleged assaults to law enforcement, she would deny his account and tell authorities he was the aggressor”.
“A lot of people are of the mind that a man cannot be sexually assaulted or could have done something to stop it,” Sgt. Shawn Strepay of the Fayetteville Police Department told the Fayetteville Observer. “That’s not true.”
However, some social media users have posted comments that make light of the incident, with one woman writing: “How did he allow her to perform a sexual act on him….did I miss something? Was he at gunpoint…did he say stop?” Other comments also questioned if a man could ever truly be sexually assaulted by a female.
