Chinese man’s attempt to cure constipation by inserting eggplant into anus fails after it gets stuck

A 50-year old Chinese man is recovering in hospital after a very unusual attempt to cure him of constipation backfired terribly.

According to a report filed by The Irish Post, the unnamed patient was admitted to hospital with a 30 centimetre long eggplant protruding from his rectum. Questioned by doctors, he revealed that he had been suffering from constipation for the past 2 days and turned to a home remedy – which involved inserting a long eggplant into his anus – to provide relief.

Unfortunately for the man, this remedy was a complete failure, and actually made the situation much worse. The following two days saw the man suffer from nausea and vomiting, and when he tried to remove the eggplant himself he found that it was stuck fast. Arriving at hospital, doctors ordered x-rays to be taken and found the eggplant had been pushed so far up that it was pressing on the man’s lungs.

Surgery was required to remove the eggplant, which was removed almost entirely intact. The man is expected to make a full recovery.
