19-year old Chicago woman charged with kicking, punching and spitting on paramedics
A 19-year old woman from Chicago was taken into custody on two felony counts of aggravated battery after she allegedly kicked, punched and spat on paramedics as they attempted to treat her on Sunday morning.
According to a report filed by NBC Chicago, the incident occurred at around 4am after police were called to a disturbance at the 2700 block of West 68th Street. After paramedics arrived on the scene and began treating 19-year old Latorya Thigpen, she allegedly punched two of them, causing abrasions and bruises. It is also alleged that she kicked and spat on the paramedics.
Police reported that one of the victims lost consciousness following the assault. The scene of the incident was violent with multiple gunshots being heard outside of the ambulance. At least one other media outlet reported that the ambulance was struck by one round.
Ms Thigpen was taken to a local hospital to receive medical clearance, and following that was taken into custody. The NBC report notes that police made a press release saying Ms Thigpen would appear in bond court on May 28.
